Quote:
In October 1911, two teams of adventurers made their final preparations in their quest to be the first people in modern history to reach the South Pole. Amundsen and Scott started their respective journeys for the Pole within days of each other, both facing a round-trip of more than 1,400 miles into an uncertain and unforgiving environment, where temperatures could easily reach 20˚ below zero even during the summer, made worse by gale-force winds.
For one team, it would be a race to victory and a safe return home. For the second team, it would be a devastating defeat, reaching the Pole only to find the wind-whipped flags of their rivals planted 34 days earlier, followed by a race for their lives -- a race that they lost in the end, as the advancing winter swallowed them up. All five members of the second Pole team perished, staggering from exhaustion, suffering the dead-black pain of frostbite, and then freezing to death as some wrote their final journal entries and notes to loved ones back home.
What separated these two men?
Amundsen and Scott achieved dramatically different outcomes principally because they displayed very different behaviors. Scott's team would walk as far as possible on the good weather days and then rest up on the bad days to conserve energy. Conversely, Amundsen's team adhered to a strict regimen of consistent progress by walking 20 miles every day no matter what. While on good days Amundsen's team were very capable of walking further, Amundsen was adamant that they walk no more than 20 miles each day to conserve their energy.

My first GMAT was a 700 back in August 2014 (IR5, Q49, V36).
Since then, I made multiple attempts to break 760 but GMAT felt like a battle to lose weight - possible in theory but difficult in practice.
I needed to change something.
This is how I will see the final 780 on my screen:
3 Promises
1. The 20-mile march: To get an exceptional result, I will put in exceptional effort everyday
2. Build focus: Limit distraction, replicate testing atmosphere
3. Precious time: My time is limited. Save the drinks for celebration.
