I just wanted to get some opinions on this. I was accepted to UNC with a full tuition fellowship through the Consortium. I was just accepted off of the wait-list at Michigan.
My intended field is real estate finance/development.
I was very attracted to UNC's real estate program. About 10% of their class focuses on real estate which is large for an MBA program. UNC also has a lot of real estate employers that I want to work for recruit there.
Michigan is ranked a little higher. Doesn't have a big real estate program but Stephen M. Ross who founded the school is real estate mogul and founded the Related Companies (on my list of companies I want to work for, but they also recruit at UNC as well). Still would probably be able to get other great RE jobs from Ross too.
I'm not sure if the Michigan is worth the extra $120K of debt but would be interesting to see opinions from others here.
Thanks in advance,
Congrats for your admit
Although Ross is slightly higher in ranking than KF, you should base your own decision on benefits. I believe you will get high benefits from KF program as it is well established in your target area; real estate and a great for recruitment. Besides, KF offers free ride. You do not graduate with burden. I advise you to take ranking as guide.
High ranking does not guarantee jobs but it provides opportunities to meet more recruiters. In your case, I believe KF has high probability to lead you to your dream job.
Good luck
