Hi.
This Question clearly has language Issues.
When you say the difference between 38 and the other elements sum
There are two possible differences =>
Case 1=> Sum-Difference
Case2=> Difference -Sum

Apart from this the second statement in the Question is extremely messy.

Yes, I am also extremely confused by the wording of the question.

Deciphering this question was a monumental task. I have no idea what is actually being tested in a question like this.

Set A of 8 positive integers may have the same element and have 38. And set B of 8 positive integers must have different elements and have 38. When m and n are the greatest possible differences between 38 and other elements’ sums in set A and set B, respectively, m-n=?
A. 20
B. 21
C. 23
D. 25
E. 26

THE WORDING OF THIS QUESTION IS SLIGHTLY CONFUSING, GREATEST POSSIBLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 38 AND OTHER ELEMENTS SOME. WHAT IF I REVERSE THE SIGN I MEAN TO SAY IF THE SUM IS MORE THAN 38 DIFFERENCE WILL BE STILL GREATEST WITH A CHANGE IN SIGN.
