We can think of line y = x as a mirror. Any point (x,y) becomes (y,x) when it is "reflected" over the mirror. Reverse the coordinate and keep the same sign. These two points will be symmetric to the line y = x.

(-1,-2) would become (-2,-1).
Answer (A).

Additional information:

If the line had been y = -x, it will still act as a mirror but any point (x,y) becomes (-y,-x) when it is "reflected" over the mirror. Reverse the coordinate and flip the sign. These two points will also be symmetric to the line y = -x.

(-1,-2) would become (2,1).
