PR CAT1 Verbal : Is it too unforgiving ?? [#permalink] New post 17 Jul 2007, 20:34
Hi All,

I too my first PR CAT today and was very much disappointed with the score. I got a 610 (Q48 V27) .

What i found was i got only 12 out of 41 verbal questions wrong which is similar compared to what im getting wrong in Manhattan and GMAT Prep

I have taken 2 MGMAT CATs and have scored 38 in verbal and 1 GMATPrep in which i scored a 33 (this test i took 1 month back before starting serious verbal prep) with same number of incorrect answers. I think the PR CAT did not give me a chance to recover. I do not think it has to do with the difficulty of questions , as i know with similar number of right answers, the score should hover somewhere around 36-38 ? PR CAT verbal is it too unforgiving ?

Forget the CAt.Is shows you what you already know. You need to work on the verbal. You are closer to 700 than you thin attack the sentence correction.Get Spidey,s notes and manhattan sentence correction. Then go for Critical reasoning and Reading comprenhension.A least a month before your test date.Take a GMAT test prep.and tell us whats up.

Keep close.

I agree with Snow wolf. I found that MGMAT and PR tests have different types of Qs in their verbal sections. Personally, I did worse on the MGMAT CAT then on the PR CAT, just focus on your weakness, and make sure you understand why you answered a particular question incorrectly. Good luck!

I think PR doesn't have a great scoring algorithm. i have one quant test where I missed three total questions and got a 42 and another where I missed 8 and got a 48. I know that it is based on how many higher level questions you get right, but their scoring is all over the place. On GMATPREP, I missed 12 and got a 48.

I also feel that a lot of the CR and RC questions on Princeton are too vague to be on the real GMAT, and this may skew your score. Obviously, GMAT PREP is the best score source, but I have read that Manhattan is the second most accurate on some other sites.
