I wanted to gain an understanding of the Pre-MBA background. I've seen some figures of the admitted students and most have an industry background in Consulting, Finance or High Tech. For example here is the class profile for the Haas school of business:http://mba.haas.berkeley.edu/community_02.html
What amazes me is the low percentage of admits from industries like Retail and Consumer Products which are probably some of the largest employers in America. Is this because a low percent of people apply from these industries or because schools are biased towards consulting and finance? I am assuming that the class profile is similar to other schools. Also, the reason why I bring this up is because my background is in both Retail and Consumer Products.
