E ?

E is the most idiomatic.
"noted that....and that"
and uses "continue" correctly for "orders"

A has a singular verb. Only C,D or E should be the answer.
I feel C should be the answer.

I think "an" should be within the brackets. Is the question correctly transcribed?

If so, D.

If not, E.

I got this question from a friend and seems that " an " is not within the brackets.
I don't have the officil answer but personally go for C.

hehe, little confusion here. "an" should definitely be within brackets as pointed out by Asandeep. E should be the answer. A and B are out because tense is wrong. D is out because of the lack of parrallellism. I think E is better than C because it puts an emphasis on the fact that the recession will worsen. "has been no increase" implies continuity and it means that even now, the number of hired workers has not improved. Thus, the 2 combined together, convey a better idea that the recession will worsen.
