Any insight would be most valuable.

1.) 30 y/o, white male. 7.5 years WE in US Army Special Forces (Green Berets); multiple combat tours, awards, decorations, etc.

2.) GRE + 164V/161M/5.5 AE (=710GMAT?)

3) 3.28ugpa @ Cornell; Major in English.
Also, I have a handful of postgrad credits in writing courses @ UC Berkeley & UCLA Extensions.
And I worked full-time throughout undergrad.

4) 2 Combat Deployments to Afghanistan; multiple deployments to other locations. Consistently promoted ahead of peers.

6) Target schools = HBS, SBS, Yale SOM & Sloan.

Is my GPA going to be a big problem? Also, should I explain why I opted for the GRE rather than the GMAT? Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm guessing that SBS is Stanford. It's actually Stanford GSB, but I got the idea.

Your UGPA is a little low, but unless there was some really good excuse, I don't see it as a major problem given your experience and the fact that you worked through school. Do you have any quant classes either in college or since?

HBS, Stanford, and Sloan are probably stretch programs, but not out of the question given your military experience. You have a competitive profile for Yale.

What do you want to do post-MBA?

Best,
Linda
