Thank you for using the timer!
We noticed you are actually not timing your practice. Click the START button first next time you use the timer.
There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Education - BA political science top 15 liberal arts. 3.1 GPA with strong upward trend yr/yr. Deans list.
GMAT - 700. Strong verbal, slightly unbalanced, quant less than 80%.
WE - five years as a commercial lines underwriter at only Dow 30 P&C carrier $33b mkt cap. Clients inlcude top public companys on the west coast (Nike, NFLX, DirecTV, Disney, Starbucks etc). Three promotions, strong recs, 2 direct reports, $30m P&L responsibility.
ECs - director at 501(c)3 non profit which places underpriveledged kids in after school literacy programs. Volunteer tutoring elementary school kids at local 501(c)3 non-profit. Long term consistent work with both organizations.
Professional accomplishments - earned desigations CPCU and ARM in record time, comparable to CFA for research analysts.
Goals - corporate strategy/development and c-suite leadership at an insurance carrier. Liberty Mutual hires out of Tuck/Fuqua/Ross for this job.
3.1 GPA w/ a 740 GMAT. I work as a financial advisor at prestigious investment bank (but i'm not an investment banker by any means) which would be a comparably prestigious job to yours.
I targetted schools that are friendlier to lower GPAs. Dartmouth, Kellogg, Wharton, and Ross will all have your GPA outside of the middle 80%.
Schools that are friendlier to lower GPAs (assuming you can make up for it on the GMAT and w/ work experience): Columbia, Chicago/Booth, Duke/Fuqua, UVA/Darden, Cornell/Johnson, UT/McCombs, Emory/Goizuetta.
Booth used to be friendlier to lower GPAs but now that their ranking is higher, they might be looking for higher caliber students too
EDIT: I guess what i'm trying to say is that you might want to include a safety school or two.
As long as you prepare high quality applications, I think your school selection is fine. Both applicants should have one or more acceptances from Top 15 schools.
Good luck, _________________
