Profile eval and retake GMAT? [#permalink] New post 09 Sep 2010, 18:30
Alex, could you please evaluate my profile.

Indian origin; bs from India, and ms/phd in engineering from a state flagship university in the US with 3.6+ gpa.
I am an university administrator, and assist the university in decision making. I do not write software. I have found a niche for business, and I think that an MBA will help me start-up my own business
I had lot of ECs during my UG/GR I am an invited member of an honorary engineering society. I have been recognized in the university and have been nominated for couple of awards.
I gave my GMAT recently, and although I was hopeful of a 700+ score, I scored a 660 (45q 35v).
I want to apply to a top-15 MBA program. Right now, my list is: harvard, MIT, Michigan, INSEAD, Cornell, duke, and Emory.
Could please assess my chances and inform me whether I need to retake my GMAT?
Thanks.

Sorry for obvious mistakes. I used iPod to type this.

If you want a shot at a top 16 school, you need to retake the GMAT, and score at least a 700. With a 660, your chances are going to be slim - the only school where you may have a shot with that score is Emory. With a 700+, Cornell/Duke/Michigan may be within reach. INSEAD, MIT and HBS are likely going to be stretches no matter what (you're competing against enough applicants with stronger overall profiles that you will more likely get crowded out).
