PRofile eval for fall 2014 applications [#permalink] New post 14 Aug 2013, 01:21
I am a 24 year old male currently working with Infosys Ltd as a systems engineer and plan to continue working until June 2014.My work ex currently is 18 months and by the time i quit it will be 28 months.
I also have a CCNA certificate(Cisco certified network associate) in networking.

I am aiming for a GMAT score of about 700 and wish to apply for Fall 2014.
My undergrad was from Mumbai University in Electronics Engineering and my aggregate for 4 years is 67%(anything above 60 in Mumbai or Pune University is excellent)
Apart from my academics,i was the captain of the football team and have won a few intra college tournaments and was golden boot winner as well.
I was also a part of the Sports Council in my college.
I was also a part of my company football team.

I have participated in a few cultural as well as technical events in college.

Could you please share a list of MBA schools i can realistically get admits from?
Any tips or advice will be appreciated.

Considering the job experience of most of the applicants to the top schools is greater than 4 years i wish to know where i stand with my current profile.

Is it a better option to go for an MIM from a top university in Europe instead?
If so could you let me know my chances of getting into schools like HEC Paris,ESCP Europe,IE business school,CEMS,LSE and ESSEC France.

Awaiting your quick response.

Thanks and regards,

Expert's post

Unless you have something extraordinary or unusual in your work history, it will be a weakness, as you suspected to be coming in so far under the average. This would not be the case if you were from Botswana or Lithuania, but being from India, there are simply too many other applicants with more experience to compete with. Having said that, if you have some compelling reasons why now is the right time for you to go, you might find some schools with which your story will resonate. I would focus on this aspect of your profile and perhaps target schools in the top 25 but not in the top 10 in the US. UNC KF, Kelley, VAnerbilt, Emory all come to mind. Also, if you can offer how your Infosys experience even at 2 years will be valuable to your classmates for some specific reasons, you could sway them. In the end, it's not about one factor, so if your weakness is number of years on the job, then speak to these other things to balance it out (why now and what you have done in the two years that makes you compelling).
