Original post is under eval request, but I'm looking to all of you since you're the experts. I appreciate your advice in advance!
I'm in the process of applying to MBA schools right now but am re-evaluating if I should hold off and wait because I will be submitting my GRE instead of GMAT. I know there's a lot of opinions out there about using the GRE over the GMAT, thus I am considering studying for the GMAT this summer, and applying for start in Aug 2012.
However, if I have even a chance of being a potential candidate for matriculation for Aug 2011, then I will go ahead and submit. I've already completed my apps, recs, and am ready to hit the go button....
My profile:
24 (25 at Matriculation) / Male / American / Indian
Languages: English, Hindi
Undergrad: B.S in Biomedical Engineering, 2008
Top 10 Public School
Cumulative GPA: 2.9/4.0
Major GPA: 3.10
Graduate School: MS in Engineering Management (I'm enrolled now as a full-time student, and still work full time)
Top 5 Private School
Cumulative GPA: 4.0
Advanced classes: I have taken advanced math and engineering classes.
Extracurriculars in College: Public Service Scholar with Distinction, Executive Leadership in a multitude of clubs, and still active with with Reading Programs abroad.
Extracurriculars after College: Started small non-profit last year. Doing my own marketing free-lance work. Founding clubs as part of a larger reading program at local universities.
GRE: Quant 780, Verb 450, CR 5.5 (GMAT Conversion is 620+ according to ETS).
Work Experience:
2008-Present (expected employer until 2011/2) - Leadership Development Program at Large Pharma Company, graduated from program into a managing role within Manufacturing/Operations
2009-Present - Started a non-profit
2009-Present - Started and own a online-marketing firm.
Schools I'm ready to Submit on:
-MIT Sloan - LGO Program - Manufacturing Exposure (Rec letter from alumni)
-Duke Fuqua - R2 Applicant - HSM Concentration (Rec letter from alumni and Fuqua faculty member)
-UNC KF - R2 Applicant
So do I hit the submit button and see what happens, or is better for me to study and take the GMAT, with hopes of doing well. I know my UG GPA is terrible, thus I started the MS earlier this year to boost that, which I'm hoping helps. If I hold off, then I plan to apply to more schools, but my focus here is on Manufacturing/Operations and Entrepreneurship.
I'll take any advice and input. Do I submit or wait?
Thanks in advance!
