Hi yesamrat,
Given your 12 years of experience and your desire to do a shorter MBA program (most standard full-time MBA programs are two years and are for individuals with 1-8 years of experience), I would recommend an executive MBA program. The
Stratus prep team and I have worked successfully with countless Executive MBA applicants to the very best schools. We would be happy to offer you our expertise.
You have a strong GMAT score, but your undergraduate GPA is on the lower side. Fortunately, executive MBA program admissions officers are more concerned with work experience than GPA, but you will be at a slight disadvantage based on your grades, making your essays that much more important. At
Stratus Prep, we have successfully worked with applicants to Columbia’s eMBA program with GPAs under 3.0 and this is considered by many the top eMBA program in the world.
Since an eMBA is your most likely option given your numbers and experience, you may want to seek a position in the US (or UK/Singapore for the Chicago program) so that you can attend classes on weekends which are often required for eMBA programs.
In your essays, you will want to make it clear why you are pursuing an eMBA and how it will facilitate your career progress. We assist hundreds of applicants with this each year, helping them craft the best possible story from their experience to maximize their chances of being admitted to the schools of their choice.
Schools you might consider given your interest in Energy and Entrepreneurship would be: Columbia (though it is primarily targeted at Latin American, Canadian and American applicants, you might look into the 20-month eMBA-Americas program), Penn (this is a two year program in Philadelphia or San Francisco), Chicago (21 month program available in Chicago, London or Singapore), Texas (21 month program), and Duke’s Global eMBA program (this would be my favorite for you given its global nature and 15 month duration) and London Business School (20 month program in London or Dubai).
Good luck!
Shawn
