Profile:
3.65 Undergrad GPA – Large Big Ten School – Accounting & Finance Major
GMAT: 750/98% – Q49/86% - V44/97% - AWA: pending
26 years old (27 by matriculation) – Male – White – American
Letters of recommendation from current supervisor and previous supervisor should be fine
WE:
-1.5 years of internal audit with Fortune 600 manufacturing company: While working with this team, I have also been able to work on several “process improvement” projects under the guidance of our internal consulting team. Consequently, the experience has not been purely audit-focused.
-2.5 years of audit with a Big 4 firm: mostly healthcare clients; some manufacturing
-Internships with Big 4 and with one of the top 5 largest companies in the world
-I am a licensed CPA, and member of appropriate organizations (AICPA, IIA, etc)
EC:
-Definitely a weak point: I play a lot of highly competitive soccer, but not in an organization that allows for leadership opportunities. I volunteer a couple places, but nothing substantial.
Goals:
-MBA in finance
-Transition from audit/accounting to management consulting. Thoroughly enjoyed working “externally” while with the Big 4 and would like to move back to a similar role, though one that is less focused on accounting. Would love to focus on the healthcare industry.
Schools:
-Booth
-Kellogg
-HSB
-Columbia
Kellogg/Booth are my focus, with HBS as just a stretch school. Do you think that I am shooting a bit too high with those 4 schools. If so, what do you think would be more reasonable options?
Additionally, the only reason that I left public accounting is that my wife took a job in a different city and I needed to follow her. I attempted to transfer within the firm, but timing was poor and it didn't work out. Is this something that I should specifically mention or avoid mentioning?
Thanks!
