Hello all!
It would be awesome if some of you could evaluate my profile. Here it goes:
Graduated University of Southern California with BS in EE in 2007 (gpa: 3.6, upward trend)
GMAT: 760
Work experience (in chronological experience)
- Worked in global investment bank in a strong group for 1.5 years
- Worked in biomedical research at Harvard Medical School working on developing robust biomarkers for neurological disease progression for 1 year
- Did a 3 month fellowship in public health in South Asia working with Unite for Sight (provides free eye/cataract surgeries in impoverished societies)
- Worked as a fellow in microfinance/microhealth in South Asia for 1 year
Where do you think I have a chance at/what schools should I be targeting? I would like to eventually go into social entrepreneurship, whether be health, education or finance related and I think the best path to this would be a program that has a good mix of focus on strategy and entrepreneurship.
Thanks in advance for all your help!
I'm a little concerned about the job changes, but the positions all do seem to be strong ones (I'm mildly concerned about the research position since it doesn't seem to include leadership. If that is the case, don't focus the essays there. If it is not the case, be sure to show the interpersonal and leadership elements of this position in your application).
Your application needs to explain why these changes made sense and pointed you in your current direction.
You sound like a strong candidate, with excellent chances in the top 10 programs. You may want to check out Beyond Gray Pinstripes' rankings of the programs with the most emphasis on socially entrepreneurship/leadership
