Your GPA seems low if it comes from a US institution; if it is from an institution in which a 2.9 is good, be sure to emphasize that in the application form. Otherwise, statistically, you are a fit, but you will need to demonstrate that you have interesting ways of working with and leading people to differentiate yourself from all the other CFAs in Trading/Sales/Structuring. One thing that may be interesting about you is indicated by your name: if you are from a less represented country, your chances of admission do increase as you are now viewed as an asset with insight into that region. Highlight that insight, and you are one step closer to differentiating yourself.
