Hi ravsg,

Regarding your profile, I recommend you stress your leadership experience as much as possible. Your GMAT score is strong, but there are many candidates with similar scores, so it is critical that you differentiate yourself through your personal essays and letters of recommendation.

I recommend you read this case study of an engineer who differentiated himself through his leadership, and subsequently was accepted into Columbia, Tuck, and MIT:

Regarding your question on timing, could you please clarify? Did you mean regarding which round to apply to, or if you were looking for more experience before applying?

For recommended schools, I recommend you identify what you want to pursue post-graduation. Attending school at Haas in Northern California will be a very different experience (and have different opportunities) than if you attend Ross.

Hope this was of help.

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team

Thank you! I really appreciate your help!

By timing, I was referring to the round I should apply in. I was thinking more like -
Tuck (round1)
Sloan (round1)
Ross (round1)

Haas (round2)
Stanford (round2)
UCLA (round2)

It would be great help if you can share how MBA in the same stream(entrepreneurship) would be different across regions, the same example Haas vs Ross. Is it b'coz of how schools in the west would be closer to technology, being near silicon valley or is it something else?

Thanks again!

Hi ravsg,

For your timing, you should apply when you feel your application is strongest. You should not be concerned if you have to apply in the second round; the only exception is that you should avoid applying in the last round.

With regards to entrepreneurship, because Haas is located in Northern California there is a strong tech presence. This is similar to New York (media, although tech is also growing), and Los Angeles (entertainment).

If you are interested in a particular industry, I highly recommend attending school in the area where the industry is located.

Best,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team
