Profile Evaluation [#permalink] New post 27 Apr 2012, 10:27
Hello.
I'm currently in my second year studying IT at the University of Pune.
If I have the following profile, would I be a strong candidate for the MSc Grande Ecole course at HEC paris/ESCP/EMLYON or LBS/LSE MiM?
1. 62% aggregate (First class) from University of Pune.
2. 700+ GMAT
3. 4-5 internships, at places like WHO, DSP blackrock, startups in my city
4. CFA Level 1
5. Professional level French (DELF Level 2-3)
6. Summer school at LSE (Grade A)

Would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Hello adijo, thanks for your question.

I am not as familiar with those MSc programs, I have to admit. I specialize in MBA programs.

Your GMAT seems strong enough – what are your verbal and quantitative scores?

One thing I’ll notice is that you seem to have a variety of internships across a smattering of industries and spaces. One thing to keep in mind when you apply is to have a strong sense of how exactly the program will help you achieve your future goals. That is, try to make a cohesive connection between where you’ve been and where you want to go. If you’re still in discovery mode, that is fine to do internships in various industries, but eventually you may want to start focusing on where you want your career to be – make sense?

I hope this helps.

Best of luck,
Brian

Hey Brian,
Thank you for the reply. I had another question, I noticed that all the top MBA b-schools require a UG GPA of about 3.2-3.5. The university that I currently study at has a percentage system.

Below 50 Passes
50% is second class
55% is higher second class
60% is first class
66% is first class with distinction

How would you compare this to the GPA system? What would the expected percentage at a top b-school (for an MBA)?

Thank you.
