I want to apply to the NYU (Stern) part time mba. My GMAT score is 690 (45q,40v). My GPA is 3.4. I am a 23 year old Panamanian citizen. I have been working as an analyst in a Private Equity firm for 1 year. I want to keep working while going to school twice a week after work. Do I have a chance of getting into the part time program? Thanks.

Hey fer,

Thanks for reaching out to me. I will try to answer your question to the best of my ability. However, there are some critical facts regarding your background that you have not addressed. I may have to make some assumptions around those factors.

There is always a chance that you could lead to a part-time program. Your GMAT score is a little low, but you may have some compensating factors. For example, I know NYU Stern will not get a lot of applicants from Panama, that definitely counts for something. I think that you do have a good justification for wanting a part-time. I would also stress that he related point should be that you have always learned best by doing and applying knowledge immediately. So the part-time format will allow you to hone your skills in a very pragmatic sense – in the classroom and on the job site.overall, your work experience seems to be excellent. I know it's a job that a lot of people trying get, but only if you are able to obtain successfully.

That's really all I can accurately assess – if you give me a few more details, I will be sure to reciprocate.

Respectfully,
Paul Lanzillotti
