--- Hobbies: Cooking(a lot), playing indoor and outdoor games.

I am interested in Information Systems and Finance.

I have shortlisted few colleges namely CMU-tepper(Information Systems), Univ. of maryland - college park, Rice, Ohio State Univ and Vanderbilt Owen.

I want to know if the above universities are safe and if not in what areas do I need to improve during this 1 year time. Also suggest any other good universities that I can look into.

First of all, congratulations on planning ahead. You are so much better off by starting now. You might be interested in our Round 1 timeline: http://blog.accepted.com/2012/02/10/rou ... fographic/ We'll post on for 2014 this week, but it's virtually the same.

You have chosen your schools well, perhaps a bit conservatively -- I assume to increase the likelihood of financial assistance. You may also want to consider Rochester Simon and UNC.

Best,
Linda
