Hello, looking for some advice on schools to apply to. I was rejected from HBS, MIT, Wharton and CBS 2 years ago, but my profile has improved substantially since then (I think). My goal is to leverage my experience in energy finance & investing to an operational role - ideally a GM rotational program in energy/industrials/chemicals/etc (I've seen places like Chevron, Dow, Dupont, Danaher, etc.)

Demographic: 28, White Male

Academic:
GMAT - 760 (Q50, V44) -> up from 690 last time I applied
3.7 GPA from Wharton Undergrad

Work Experience: 7 years at matriculation in 2014

1) 1.5 years of a management consultant at mid-tier firm
2) 3.5 years in boutique (read: no-name bank) i-banking doing power and infrastructure work. Some renewables but primarily natural gas. Transitioned from consulting due to my interest in the energy sector and the fact that my previous firm had no energy clients.
3) Currently 1 year into a pre-MBA Associate position at a clean-tech venture capital firm. In lieu of applying the following year I felt a 2-year VC program would be good experience and help my chances in re-applying. I do mostly strategy and operations work for portfolio companies, rather than deal work. The VC job is great but there is not a strong chance for upward mobility and the cleantech market is an absolute mess at the moment. My personality is better suited to building a managerial career at an international company.

Target schools: Wharton, Booth, Kellogg, Duke, UVA. Not interested in the New York schools due to cost and focus on finance.

Could really use some advice - I'm a little worried I'm too old at this point to even go after this.
