You have a nice, well rounded profile and while yes, you come in from a very highly represented area in a very dense applicant pool, you should be competitive at your target schools. Your GMAT is right in line with their 80% ranges and you have a clear goal for what you want to do. REgioinal I-banking is probably the best route out of these programs. As far as which to select as a subset of your list, it's really a question of who has access to the recruiters you are targeting and who is going to be near your targeted area of employment geographically. B-school networks are pretty sticky and grads tend to stay around a region within an 8-hour drive of the school. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying
My post mba goal is:
I want to study MBA in finance because an MBA programs will have a broader management focus with an emphasis on leadership .
A finance specialization will help me understand assets, liabilities, balance sheet etc.
I want to get into sell side of investment banking and my IT background(2 +yrs exp in c++) will help me in structuring desks in the sales and trading divisions of banks. I could develop trading strategies that exploit the inefficiencies in the market to create wealth through algorithms. An understanding of asset, liabilities, balance sheet etc will help me in producing more efficient algorithms.
To have an edge over other applicants with similar background I have done a certificate program in business management from iit-mumbai and a course in options, futures and derivative from a mooc platform conducted by John Hull (uni of toronto).

Will this help in my mba essay and could you provide some useful tips to write mba essay for the universities I am targeting.
Most of the universities that I am applying to are on east cost and have better placement record for financial service sector(source businessweek).
Thanks in advance.

Ten Keys to a Great Essay

1. Show don't Tell. Provide examples that illustrate the pionts that you are trying to make rather than simply making those points.

2. Keep your sentences clear and concise.

3. Provide tangible measurements to give the reader an idea of size and scope.

4. Make sure to answer all of the questions completely

5. Don't forget to briefly discuss what you learned from the experiences that you use as an example.

6. Utilize headers for longer essays if you feel it provides structure and to prevent the essay from overwhelming the reader.

7. Write using your own personal style. Don't try to adopt someone else's style just because you think it's what the admissions committee is looking for.

8. Don’t' use overly technical words or jargon.

9. Respect the word limit.

10. If it's not passionate, it's not personal. No admissions committee member wants to read uninspired essays.
