Hi,

I gave my first Gmat exam in september and scored 600 [ Q48 and V28].

I decided to retake and took the exam again on 28th Dec and Scored 670 [ Q44 and V38].

Country : India

Graduation : Mechanical Engineering with 3.5 cgpa [ Converted, Actual: 70%]

Work Experience : 2.5 years in Honda 2 wheelers India in Quality Control taking care of testing, market claims, Government regulations [ Mostly all technical areas]

Work Responsibility : Testing of new models, Analysis of market claims, Analysis of market claim data identifying trends and forecasting for future, study and implementation of various new regulations being implemented.

Extra curricular :
Regular member of school and college football and cricket teams, won a couple of quizzes, member of team that won national design competition for designing a prototype of F1 car during college
Participated in annual Formula SAE competition in Fontana,California,USA with a prototype of F1 car and represented 1 of the only 2 indian teams present.Finished in top 50 from 100 participating teams.
Teaching village underprivileged children during free time in graduation

Goal : Basically a shift from technical to management work.To work as a top leader in a company.

Questions:
1. Which programs and schools suit my profile?
2. Is it too late to apply since most schools are done with R2 and R3 applications?[ Really worried about this]
3. Is there any possibility that i can get scholarship at any of the schools?

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Nitish,

Thanks for posting, and congrats on your GMAT score improvement as that will certainly help. However I would say at present your profile/work experience could sound a bit lacking, in that it's relatively short (average is 5 years) and does not have evidence of leadership or management experience or potential. Certainly as you said that is your aim to move more into management, but you'll also want to ensure you make a case for why you should do it so soon/early in your career (the MBA), and/or how the MBA degree will help that as opposed to gaining more experience in your company first. Generally though I would think you could have a shot at a school outside the top 25 (see US News ranking, or not sure if you're considering programs around the world). Yes it is getting quite late though and the majority of the places have been filled at many programs. So your better option may be to apply R1 in fall for following year, and continue to work on ways you can show leadership, teamwork, make an impact at work, go above and beyond your responsibilities, etc. Good luck to you!
