I would like to know which B-schools are kind of "in my range" since I honestly think my profile is not really outstanding, but still not bad. As I want to start studying for the GMAT, I would also like to know what score would be sufficient for these schools.
So about me:
I'm Austrian and I speak three languages more or less fluently (German. English, Croatian)
- I went to the major B-school in Austria, which is currently a Top 30 European B-School, with a GPA of 1.8 (Top 2%) and specialized in Financial Management and Entrepreneurship
- Alongside my studies I mostly had jobs: - 1 year parttime accountant for small investment firm - 1 month Internship in Fin. Management for major Austrian company >10k Employees - 2 months Advisory Department Internship with EY - 1/2 year parttime position for one of the best Austrian Consulting firms - internationally not know though - 7 months Fulltime Financial Analyst with Pfizer (alongside writing my Bachelor's thesis) - 1/2 year internship for German IT Services Provider (>60k Employees) in NYC
- Furthermore I have spent one term abroad at UCF in Orlando
- extracurriculars: - Played in a soccer team where I was captain as well - Played in a Volleyball team - participated in a project with a local company and AT Kearney as team leader (1 Semester) - participated in a project with Airbus as a team leader (1 Semester) - was best in class on an Austrian math competition - played poker semiprofessionally (not sure if I want to state that in my resume)
I am currently doing the internship in NYC, despite being already done with school and am about to start with learning for the GMAT. My plan is to apply after my internship for the major consulting firms (one of the top tier firms' recruiter already told me that she would invite me to an interview, have not talked to the other firms yet)
I honestly do not know where I see myself, so I would greatly appreciate your opinion on which schools would suit me best and what score would be necessary.
Your profile looks pretty decent with the information you have mentioned, but i cannot give you an “in your range” b school. You have not taken GMAT and you need to have atleast 3 years of work experience to get into good programs. I think it is way too early for you to decide on which business school you should attend. If you can build an exceptional profile within the next few years, you can also target top 5 schools. As far as your GMAT score is concerned, try to score atleast 700. The rest depends on your essays and application.
I have 4 years of work exp with 2 years as a communication skills consultant, and the recent two years as an assistant manager, production planning at a jewellery firm. I have also been volunteering at an NGO as a content editor parallely for the past 5 months now.
I already did an MBA in operations management to get a career change but from an institute which isnt known, and it did not instill much knowledge regarding entrepreneurship as I wish to start an NGO 10 years down the line. The gap of 10 years is to gain appropriate experience, contacts, and the capital required.
Am planning to give GMAT this month, and want to know which colleges I can get through. I have been getting a score of 680 to 690 in MGMAT exams.
