Profile Evaluation [#permalink] New post 16 Jul 2014, 06:07
I am a commercial banker with 15 years of overall experience in various functions in 4 banks in 2 countries in the Middle East (UAE and Saudi Arabia). My background is given below;

I am from Pakistan from where I did my Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Political Science; however both not with good grades and then completed a prefessional certification i.e. Cost and Management Accountant. Started my career in a Commercial bank in Dubai in Trade Finance then moved to Risk Management and then to Corporate Relationship. Currently, I am at middle level management in a big Regional Commercial Bank leading a team of senior managers, managers and analysts in the field of Corporate Lending (Relationship handling) looking after a portfolio of around USD 2Billion.

I appeared in GMAT some 15 years back and got a score of 700 at that time.

I am planning to move to Private Equity or Consultancy in Singapore and hence thinking of doing an Executive MBA. INSEAD or any good EMBA in Singapore seems to be a good choice as I can do it while remaining in my current job in Saudia and only travelling for some part of the year for some modules which are required to be done on campus. My questions are as follows;

What are my chances of getting admission in INSEAD Global EMBA?
How much score in GMAT shall I aim in order to be considered?
Would my low GPA in my undergrad negatively impact my chances and as the reply would be 'yes', how much?
I mean, would my experience in a multinational and multi cultural environment especially managing a team of managers from diversified countries mix somehow mitigate the impact of my low GPAs?

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your profile information. Given your extensive international management and banking experience, you likely have a solid profile for an Exec MBA program such as INSEAD, especially if you successfully showcase your leadership experiences, impact made in your roles, what you have learned and gained, and what you'd contribute to a class. ;)

The schools will generally focus more on the GMAT, being more recent, for evidence of your academic ability, than on the grades from a long time ago. So do prep for the GMAT, which you'll have to re-take since it was a while ago, and mainly aim to do the best you can! ;) But a 700 or thereabouts would be good.

Yes your global experiences will be a plus.

And I'm assuming you have a lot of language skills; INSEAD does require the 3 languages at least by graduation.

Keep us posted on your q's and good luck!
