Thanks for taking the time to consider my profile!
Through this process, I am really looking to answer three questions:
1. Given that I am relatively young (25), does it make sense to take another year to round out my application? Where would you consider me to be on par now?
2. Given my credentials/experience, does it make sense to re-write the GMAT to improve my quant score?
3. What would you consider the greatest weakness in my application? i.e. Where should I focus time over the next year?
1. Assistant Manager in a Big 4 Assurance practice (two promotions in three years Associate -> Senior Associate -> Assistant Manager). Appointed as primary manager on several high profile accounts. Heavily involved in campus recruitment (resume screening, interviews, hiring decisions). Spearheaded local implementation of several national initiatives. Designed and facilitated two local learning offerings.
Currently transitioning into a newly-formed Advisory business unit. Think Deloitte Consulting S&O service-wise, with more of a focus on business development (opportunity to grow a new practice from zero). Should have 1-2 years of solid consulting experience before matriculation. Third promotion (to Manager) expected in 2015 (pre-R1).
2. 710 GMAT (Q46/V42). Re-write planned to address low quant score, given choice of target schools... Is this a good use of time given the credentials outlined in #5?
3. Canadian public university (not Toronto). Most comparable US schools in the QS Rankings are University of Texas (Austin) and Boston University. 3.65 GPA. Strong extracurricular involvement. Awarded second highest leadership scholarship available to undergraduates (10 / 30,000 students).
4. Some good alumni involvement (coach of case teams, active in mentorship programs, speaker at undergrad events). Former Treasurer of HOA. Counselling member for 4 aspiring CA's. Exam reviewer for CA School of Business.
5. Chartered Accountant. Named to National Honour Roll (50 / 4,000) for performance on final examination.
6. Booth, Wharton, Columbia, Duke, HKUST
7. R1 2015
8. Transition into MBB. Eventual goal would be to move into a hands-on venture capital firm where my combined background as a financial and strategic consultant would position me a strong advisor.
