Hello,
It would be a great help if an expert here on GMATclub could help me on profile evaluation and some valuable advice about the plans and options I have in my mind.
Profile:
Professional:
1. 25yrs, Male, Indian, Civil Engineer.
2. 4yrs Work Exp. (2yrs in Renewable Energy Sector in India - Past/ 2yrs in High Rise Construction in Singapore - at Present) as Manager.
3. Have executed Construction of 5 Solar Power Plant in India including one at present Largest in Asia. I was Employed with the Developer.
4. At Present executing a SGD 177million Residential Project in Singapore. I am Employed with Main Contractor.
5. GMAT - 1st Attempt - 630(Q50, V28).
Academics:
1. Civil Engineer from one of the best NIT's in India.
2. CPI - 6.52/10 (I was ranked above 70% of class but not sure how it translates into GPA).
3. Presented and Published Research Paper in conference for Bulding and Construction Technology Research.
Extra-Curricular:
1. Grade 5 Classical Guitarist certified by ABRSM. Regular performer in Classical Orchestras.
2. Regular Participant in Charity Runs and Marathons
3. Volunteer at National Library of Singapore.
4. Member of Editorial Team for 4yrs of Annual Air Book of my University. Chief Student Editor for 1yr.
5. Core Coordinator for both National Level Techno Management and Cultural Festivals of my University.
6. Job Placement Coordinator for my Engineering Batch.
Career Plans:
1. I Plan to obtain an MBA, preferably with specialisation in Operations or General Management.
2. Want to work as a Consultant in Industry/Energy Sector - preferably in renewable energy.
3. Target Schools are - INSEAD, IESE, IE, SAID, LBS, HEC, NUS.
4. I am Aware GMAT Score is way below par Level and that is because of poor Verbal Score. I'm targeting to get a 750+ Score.
My Doubts:
1. Does a profile in Construction makes my profile loose lustre as certainly its not a white collar job.
2. Does my project execution and project management experience makes me a good candidate to be a future consultant as I have no prior consultancy background.
3. I'm targeting more European Schools for 2 reasons; First, major leaps in Renewable sector and Market Leaders are based in Europe and second, shorter duration of MBA. Are these Valid assumptions?
A reply would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks a Lot in Advance.
