Hi there,
Thanks for your inquiry and sharing your background. As I'm sure you're aware, your ethnicity, gender, and work experience puts you into an overrepresented pool of applicant, so your GPA and GMAT hover around slightly below to around average at best. If you feel fairly confident that you can hit +730 on your next attempt, retaking the GMAT would be a good idea. Your work experience is quite "run-of-the-mill" - do you have any experiences or roles that help you stand out?
As far as my workplace is concerned, I have had two distinct roles - one in which I worked in a team but not in a leadership capacity. Another in which I have led a project single handedly, and was the point of contact for other teams in the project. Although that does not demonstrate leadership over human counterparts, I think it still illustrates a level of responsibility and capability to handle a large scale project alone. Do you think it would count if I projected it as such? I also have leadership roles in community services, wherein I have led a team of volunteers on certain projects.

Also, you mentioned Finance as a post MBA goal, but what type of role do you see yourself in? While Booth and Stern are great schools for Finance, they are stretch schools, and frankly depending on your risk profile and how many schools you are willing to apply to, you might be better off applying to other schools. To recommend specific programs, we'll need a bit more information on your goals, leadership experience, and involvement.
Although Finance is my interest, if it isn't likely to get a job post MBA as Finance specialization, then I'd rather not take that road. I can go ahead with Technology/Consulting role which would blend smoothly with my current work experience. In such a case, what programs do you recommend I apply to? I will retake the GMAT in mid-July, but for now, can you suggest some programs that I can apply for with a GMAT of 710 and a possible GMAT score of, say, 740?
Appreciate your help in this regard.
Thanks,
Pranav
