Personal Info: 24 years old, Asian, Female
Undergrad: UCLA Math Major
Working Experience - 8 years, 3 years post grad.
8 years at family owned business, participated in various projects, company looking to build a new hotel that I will participate in.
3 years at entertainment business as finance analyst.
GMAT - 730
GPA - 2.78 out of 4.00. Low GPA due to working full time, a harder major with lower overall GPA, and a 2 year transfer. (3.61 GPA prior to transfer)
Question:
I'm looking to apply to Johnson, SOM, and Fuqua. Fuqua's GPA is lower than SOM, but it is also lower in Female accepted. Which school do you think is more likely for me to be accepted? SOM or Fuqua? Are any of these 3 schools within reach? I have to enter MBA this year so I want to make sure I'm aiming at a high acceptance chance.
My low GPA is the biggest concern, are there schools that are known for putting less emphasis on gpa? what do you see in my profile that can possibly offset my low gpa?
Many other consultants mention that 3 years post grade at entertainment business do not tie in with my story since it is in a different industry. What is your opinion on this? The company is a Fortune 100. Originally, family wanted me to gain entry level experience outside of family business to avoid preferential treatment.
