Hi Sir,
Thanks for the reply.
I am a Chemical Engineering Graduate from Panjab University(Times Asia Ranking - 38)
The family business is of Publication of School Books - 30-60 employees. The business has a name in India, but not too big. Moreover this industry is marred with corruption and so much competition that i don't want to get into the mess. The growth of the print industry is also very low. But i am working on launching new services like digitization of books.
I am even thinking not to show my family business in application because they might expect me to join it or ask what and how did i scale it up but in reality, i haven't worked on it that much, though i know trade secrets and other things about this business.
What do you say?
Dear Rahul.
1) Is profile good for any of top 30 Mba colleges, if yes then what are the colleges i should aim for because i don't want to spend more than 40-50 k $ ( total for 2 years)?
It's hard to say without a GMAT. Top 10 are going to be stretches, but with a high enough GMAT 10-30 could be in range. But if your startup is failing, your profile will be stronger if you take a job.
2) can i get scholarships(full or atleast half)?
It is highly unlikely that you will get full scholarship at Top 30 schools, even with a fantastic GMAT. It is entirely possible that you get offered SOME money. But keep in mind usually the lower ranked the school the more money they are likely to offer you, whereas the higher ranked ones, if you get in, will likely not. Anyhow, from an ROI perspective, its usually worth it to go to the higher ranked schools.
3) what should i do more to make my profile more relevant?
Well your profile is pretty relevant. The bigger question is what can you do to make your profile more FUN and INTERESTING and EXCITING?
4) Would a work ex(after my startup) of logisitcs and delivery or advertising more beneficial, if ultimately want to get into a Business Strategy and Development profile (post mba)
Right now the main industry of your education and experience is energy/chem, and that would make the most sense in terms of goals as well.
5) Best colleges(ROI point of view and possible %age placement) for Business Devlepment profile.
The best-ranked school you can get into will give you the best ROI.
Hope this helps!
