Profile Evaluation, 3 years exp [#permalink] New post 16 Apr 2013, 16:11
Hello,

If you would, please review my profile. In particular, I am curious if my lack of work experience would disqualify me from top programs (I'll have 3 years at matriculation).

1) Brief description of your full-time work experience. What do you do?
I am an IT consultant for the largest consulting firm in Spain and Latin America (10,000 + employees). I currently work as project coordinator for Fraud/AML projects at a US subsidiary of a Spanish Bank. I gather requirements, supervise testing and software deployments.

2) Your GMAT.
740 (41 verbal, 44 math)

3) College info: The name of the college, your GPA or grade average, your major, year of graduation. For any graduate degrees, please provide the same info. If you grades are low, please indicate if there were extenuating circumstances.
Bachelors in Business Administration, May 2011, GPA 3.88 (summa cum laude), concentrated in Finance. Graduated in 3 years while working 25 hours per week as certified lender at branch of retail bank.

4) Significant college and post-college extra-curricular activities or community service, especially leadership experience.
Led Financial Literacy courses in college; running Boston triathlon in August; Have high ranking sailing certification

5) Important certifications like CFA, CPA, FSA, or CA.

6) Your target programs.
Harvard, Stanford, Chicago, Berkeley, LBS

7) When you plan to apply? Please specify round and application cycle, for example R1 2013-14 or R3 2012-13.
R1 2013-2014

8) Your post-MBA goal.
Start consulting firm for process improvement in electronic health records

It doesn't disqualify you; it may put you at a slight disadvantage. I say "slight" because you seem to have done a lot in these 3 years. You may be the kind of younger applicant schools will be more interested in. You may also want to consider CMU Tepper and MIT Sloan.

Please see http://www.accepted.com/mba/younger.aspx .

Best,
Linda
