Profile Evaluation 680 GMAT [#permalink] New post 05 Jan 2013, 13:39
Hi

I would appreciate some assistance in profile evaluation and suggestions regarding schools to target.

GMAT 680 (Q50 V31) AWA 4

1) Work Ex. -Total 5+ yrs ( 3.5+ yrs of Process and IT consulting to North American retail clients in a niche domain called PLM) and 1+ yrs of IT product development in DTH where I worked with the product managers and marketing managers of the largest DTH provider in India. I have been leading multiple assignments since the last couple of years.

2)Undergrad - 6.87/10 in Electronics Engg from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 2007 (Consistently ranks among the top engineering colleges in India). Participated in a host of extracurricular activities. Started a band in college.Chief secy of cultural club and a member of placement cell. Created innovative presentations to lure prospective companies.

3) No Community service post undergrad but I've been involved in bands and in creating music post undergrad.

4)Post MBA goal - Product management in Hi Tech or strategy roles in top Management consulting firms.

5) Target programs - This is where I need help. My profile is probably not sufficiently attractive to grab eyeballs from Top 10-12 US colleges. I am mostly interested in pursuing programs that provide loans without co-signer.I think that I might have a chance in Emory Goizueta, UT Austin- Mccombs and Cornell- Johnson. I am also open to European schools but US schools are my priority. I would really appreciate if some help here.

Thanks
Lola :)

Lola,

Before I respond, what are DTH and PLM?

Are you applying to matriculate in 2014 OR 2013? Would you consider retaking the GMAT?

Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your reply. DTH stands for Direct to Home television services(BSkyB,Airtel are the companies that provide these services) and PLM stands for product lifecycle management(Useful in Retail, Auto and aero industries). I have worked on the process and technological aspects in both the domains. I want to apply for the MBA class of 2013-15 or 2013-14(1 year). Retaking the GMAT is not an option that I am considering yet because I think that my score is in the ball park of most of the universities.I want to make the best out of the score that I currently have and work hard on the other aspects of the application such as essays etc.

Thank you,
Lola

Thanks for the additional information.

Cornell Johnson and UT are probably stretches, but you are more competitive at Emory. You may also want to consider UNC, Indiana Kelley, and Toronto Rotman (yes I realize it's in Canada and not in the U.S.) In Europe, consider IMD .

Best,
Linda
