Profile: 23/m/African American
undergrad: Small-Private/ Finance/ 3.3
GMAT: haven’t taken yet, practice tests=680-700
Work exp: 1.5 yr training program; 1+ year strategic planning @ top regional bank

Extracurricular – Helped start leadership focused non-profit for high school students in 2003, still very active in raising money and establishing new locations; started an internet-based travel company in late 2009, revenues < 20K YTD, but in its infancy (still optimistic about its growth prospects).

I am currently in a situation where I can switch into a commercial lending group inside the bank as an analyst, or keep my current job. Would it be more impressive for a B-school to see the banking/credit background from analyst to associate or 2-3 years of my current strat-planning job where I report to an SEVP who runs many commercial lending units.

Would I make a compelling case for top 15 schools in the next few years? If so, how long should wait to go? Some have told me that if I get 680-700 I will have a good chance at top 10 within the next 2 years, is this true?
