Hi Alex,
Thanks for all your valuable insight. Can you provide some comments regarding my profile and chances at the following schools?
UCB - Haas (#1 choice)
MIT - Sloan
Cornell - Johnson
Dartmouth - Tuck
Northwestern - Kellogg
UCLA - Anderson
CMU - Tepper
U of Wa - Foster
(I know it just looks like I listed a ton of top MBA programs... but I am seriously weighing each individually to gauge whether I'd be a good fit. I've made arrangements to visit 4 schools already in the next few weeks, and will visit more later this year, based on more research and feedback from alumni and folks like yourself. On top of chances, I'm hoping you can highlight exceptionally good or bad fits based on my profile/goals)
US Citizen, Asian descent
Undergraduate degree: BA Finance, U of WA
Undergraduate GPA: 3.49/4.00
GMAT: 670 (ouch, I know... took it four times and couldn't break 700 - don't think I should try again)
Age at matriculation: 28 (targeting 2011 enrollment)
Years of experience at matriculation: 4+
Experience type: Big 4 IT/Biz consultant, recent move to private mid-size IT/Biz consulting firm
Other: U.S. Military Veteran (served in Iraq)
ECs: Volunteering tutoring kids/assisting with homework, recently competed in weightlifting competition, training for 200 mile endurance bike ride.
Reason for MBA right now: I have a lot of reasons which will make my essays a bit difficult (have to focus on main reason) but really I am looking for a career change. Ideally move away from IT and more towards corporate strategy and finance.
Thanks again!
