Profile Evaluation and Help required for Applying [#permalink] New post 03 Jan 2013, 23:43
Hi Guys,

I have recently taken the GMAT and TOEFL exams and scored 660 and 104 resp.

I am and IT Engineer from Mumbai University and have an Work experience of 4.6 Years in the IT Industry with 2 of the top MNC's (Capgemini and Accenture).

Rest of the Academic details are below:
Engineering - 61%
10th - 88%
12th - 88%

I want to apply for the Fall 2013 batch. I know its already pretty late, but still would like to know my chances of getting into one of the Top 100 B Schools and getting a scholarship. I am targetting schools where I can get a decent scholarship. So need help on this.

Thanks, and please let me know if you need any more details

Hi,

To narrow down the schools from the top 100 list, it will also depend on your career goals. Generally if your profile is stronger than the students at a particular school, you would have a good chance of getting scholarship.

Good luck!

Hi Akshey,

You have a decent profile & avg. GMAT/GPA. You can target b-schools whose avg. GMAT range fall between 560-710 like: SMU-Cox, Minnesota-Carlson, Ohio-Fisher, McDonough, Vanderbilt, BYU-Marriott, Texas-Mays, Boston-Carroll and Georgia-Terry. You can try your chances in b-schools by clicking http://www.general-ed.com/chances-of-bschool

Now the next step is to work hard on your application. You can always convert your chances from application to admission by skillfully writing essays & working hard on interviews. This is how the b-school adcoms will get to know about the candidate.

Feel free to post any other concerns you might have. You can even PM me your number to have a detail discussion over your profile & selection of b-schools.

Cheers!!
Neha
Giving KUDOS is a decent way of saying thanks…

I dunno... but for 2013 it's getting a wee bit late. By rushing things you would get into a MUCH less good school, so maybe anyways wait another year? (and if you do, a GMAT retake might be considered). If you really really want to apply this year, I'd say look at schools ranked below 25, and you will for sure find a school or three to suit you.

Hi Akshay,

Your profile is good except for your average GMAT score. But I think it's a little bit late for putting together an effective application package for R-2 especially because you have not even finalized your school list. I would sugegst you wait for another year, improve your GMAT , spend decent time in creating effective essays , resume etc and approaching references for providing you great recommendations.

However, if you MUST apply this year, put in your 100% in creating your application. I really mean it because it is a time-consuming process, especially essay -writing.
