profile evaluation and question about retaking GMAT [#permalink] New post 08 Apr 2008, 13:26
Hi ,

I am a prospective Fall 2009 applicant.
My profile: Indian, 28, Female , 4 years work experience both in a startup and a big Telecom firm with good leadership track ( led multiple projects and currently leading a team), decent extra curriculars and Masters GPA 3.8 .
I had a question regarding GMAT. I have taken my GMAT twice already.
First time: 560
Second time : 670 ( 47 Q and 35 V).

I am targeting the following schools: Tuck, Michigan, Berkeley, Duke, UCLA and Cornell
I really want to get my score to atleast 700+ by taking my GMAT again. Is taking the GMAT a third time considered OK by B-schools. Do you think my current score is in the competitive range ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

prospect,

Given your gender and apparently strong career progress, your 670 may actually be good enough to give you a chance at the schools you mentioned, though a score closer to 80th percentile in both math and verbal would be the ideal threshold. Taking the GMAT three times is not a problem for the schools. More than that, they start to wonder. Michigan, Duke, and Cornell seem the most doable with your current score.

Hope this helps,
