My friend has the following profile

GMAT 570
Work EX - 2 years IT, 2 years family business
Academics : Good
Extra curr : Below average

He does not have the time to re-take gmat given the deadlines.
We are confused on what schools should he apply to.. He is from India and wants
to specialize in marketing..

Some of the schools we are looking at are:
buffalo
Fordham
RIT
Howard
Pace
California State:Fullerton
Babson

Could you please suggest his chances of getting through these and any other schools for the same if possible and if these schools are ok, considering the time and money to be invested?

Hello gmatmr, thanks for your question.

What are the mean GMAT levels of those programs? My rule of thumb is that if you are at or near the mean, you should be fine, and if you are lower but within the middle 80% range at a school, you have a shot. Otherwise, it could be an uphill battle.

Below average extracurriculars is not a dealbreaker in itself, but your friend will then have to rely on some strong leadership experience in and out of work to mitigate that. I hope this helps.

Best of luck,
Brian
