Hi,

Please help me with an evaluation -

I am a 26 year old Indian male

GMAT -
730

Work experience -
4 yrs IT in Banking/Financial Services (developer > analyst > Project Lead (India/Australia) > Leader for centre of excellence)
Currently with TCSL (Asia's largest ITeS corporation)

Education -
Bach. of Engg. in National Inst. of Technology, Nagpur, India

Extracurriculars -
Photography (featured photographer on a commercial photography site)
Trekking
Assisted in setting up local sub-chapter for a SPIC-MACAY (a national organization to promote Indian Classical Music)
Set up blood donation camps during under-graduate studies
Occasional work with leprosy patients

Post MBA goals -
Product Manager/Business Development Leader in Revolving Credit/E-Business sector, somewhere at the Business-Technology interface. My interests are Finance, Consultancy and Strategy.

Target schools -
Tuck (Stretch School), SBS, ISB. Thinking of applying to 3 more (Probably INSEAD and Tepper, and one more)...

1. Please evaluate the choice of schools and advise.
2. How much importance should I give course fees while shortlisting?
3. Is it a good idea to contact college faculty through email before I actually apply? Especially because I will not be able to make campus visits.

Thanks & Regards,
Paddy

1 -- The targets sound decent. I wouldn't apply to more than 5 schools for sure.
2 -- I wouldn't place much emphasis on course fees at this point
3 -- It's only a good idea to contact faculty if you share research interests and can engage them at a detail level in that regard. Just dropping them a line and asking them to go to bat for you in terms of admission is not a good idea.

Thank you! :)

There's one more thing - my plan is to do the course, work abroad long enough to repay my debts, and then get back to India or somewhere close.

But recently I've been hearing 'horror' stories where international students have found it hard to land jobs after the course. How much of a concern is this in the near future? Is there some place where stats would be available regarding this? How do I go about researching this?

Each school has reports that indicates where their graduates go for jobs and how long it took to obtain positions after graduation. These are very good indicators of what you can expect.
