Profile Evaluation - Brazilian [#permalink] New post 09 Aug 2013, 10:04
Hi,

I am a Brazilian male, 28 years old.

Graduated in Economics in a top local university, also took a MSc. in Economics in a top local business school, which was a part-time/executive program (night/weekends).

I have 6.5 years of work experience, 2.5 in IB, 2.5 in asset management, and 1.5 (present job) as investment analyst in a pension fund (working with portfolio management and fixed income trading); these are all brazilian companies.

I also passed the CFA Level 1 Exam this June, and I am thinking on focusing on the GMAT this semester before studying for the Level 2 next year.

What GMAT score would I need to get to a top 10 school in the US?
What about European schools (like Oxford, Cambridge, Insead, LBS, and Iese)?

Thanks!

You offer much in terms of cultural and international diversity being from Brazil and the Brazillain banking system is of course becoming more important every day in the world economy, and frankly an area of interest and focus in b-school. This will be a unique advantage for you, which when coupled with your academic achievements including the CFA should likely let you off the hook for having to score a 750 on the GMAT. It would be nice to post a 7-something on the GMAT if you can pull it off, which I don't doubt based upon your achievements. They will cut you more slack on the verbal portion, but try to get a 48-49 on the quant section. Once you do this, you need only to package your story in a compelling way and you should have a good shot. Let us know if we can help--certainly a professional hand is advisable, just as it would be for you to get a lawyer to pursue a lawsuit, making a case for b-school admission has become a daunting process.
