Hi, I am a 26 years old Indian with 3 years experience in management (Strategy & Operations) consulting. Having worked for 2 start-ups, I had the opportunity to lead several engagements independently. I also received a ‘partner commendation for outstanding contribution’ for one engagement.
My GMAT score isn’t all that great -720 (Q49, V40)
I pursued my undergrad in computer science engineering from the international campus of a top 10 engineering college in India (Bits – Pilani, Dubai). My Undergrad GPA is 3.1 (7.76/10).
No significant extracurricular activities at college level. However, I was part of the organizing team for our college sports fest. I am currently on the leadership team of our Alumni organization (Voluntary role). I play some tennis at club level (nothing spectacular though!)
I aspire to pursue my MBA from a top-10 B-school. I intend to apply during Round 1 for 2014 intake. Do I stand a chance?
Post my MBA I’d like to work for a large consulting firm for some time. I find this line of work to be very exciting and challenging. Although daunting at times, the work is very dynamic and the lifestyle is pretty fascinating.
My problem is that I haven’t really worked for any big names. All my work experience is at start-up firms, which handle small and medium clients. Will this be a setback for my candidature? Also, my present firm isn’t doing all that well. Consequently, I have been idling for quite some time now.
So, where do I stand? Please Advise!
Thanks
