Profile Evaluation for Part-Time MBA [#permalink] New post 09 Aug 2013, 07:15
Hi All,

Please evaluate my chances of getting into the Part-time MBA course at Kellogg. Insight and comments appreciated.

I have been working in the IT industry for about 10 years now in various roles. My most current role was as a Project Manager. I have worked in many domains over the years, (retail, insurance, healthcare to be specific).

I am in the US since 2007 and currently reside in Michigan and think Kellogg would be a convenient option.

I am currently preparing for GMAT. I am confident that I can get above 700. I have an Engineering degree from an Indian University with a equivalent GPA of 3.7.

I have family and my main goal is to move up in my career, preferably with my current employer. I think I have reached a glass ceiling that can only be broken by an MBA degree. I like the Decision Sciences, Management & Strategy and Managerial Analytics majors offered at Kellogg.

Thanks.

Well, if you can get above a 700, you will have a shot at Kellogg, and you should go for it, although what about other schools and other regions?

Also, given the nature of the part-time MBA, if you can get your company to support, or better yet sponsor your PT MBA, it can make for a very convincing argument for the AdCom.

Hope this helps!

Well, since I reside in Michigan, and I want/need/like to keep my full-time job, so the only option is a weekend MBA at Kellogg, Ross or Booth.

I can certainly get my employer to support me, sponsoring some or part of my MBA expense could be a long-shot, as my employer would consider that against my CTC.

Thank you for your response.

Well if you can show that at least they will "guarantee" you a promotion upon your return thanks to the new knowledge acquired, that too can be very helpful. I'd say apply to all three regional PT programs the same round, so that if you do make it in to more than one, you will have at least the ability to pick and choose.

Best,
JF
