Profile evaluation GMAT score 620 Indian/Female/IT[5yrs] [#permalink] New post 14 Nov 2013, 02:31
Hi ,
I appeared for GMAT and got a score of 620[47Q/27V].

Please find below further details on my academics and work-experience:

Work experience : 5 years in IT industry.
Graduate GPA : 8.64/10

During the 5 years of work experience i have worked with US based clients and even traveled to US for work. I have bagged multiple accolades/certificates and appreciations from the clients and my own company for the quality of work delivered.
On a personal front i have an appetite for exploring varied cultures and have traveled across UK, Singapore, US, Malaysia and Thailand for the same.
I was the founder of an NGO during my college days which is active till date. I am also an active participant in Corporate Community Service programs.

Please let me know my chances of getting through the MBA programs in NUS/NTU/SMU. Apart from these are there any other top colleges which would best suit my profile .

Hi Swati,

Thanks for your inquiry. I don’t have significant experience in advising on NUS/NTU/SMU. MBA Prep School specializes in US programs. However, I would also need to better understand your work experience and the accolades and certificates that you received in order to determine what programs suite you.

However, I would say that you should look into the student profiles on the various websites to determine the best range of schools for you based on average GMAT score and GPA.

From that point on, you should craft a clear set of career goals in your post-MBA life. Determining the areas of business where you want to focus after your program will help you do additional research on schools within your range to understand their specialization, and how their alumni network will benefit your specific interests.

If you can make your goals / career passions very clear in your application as well as speak to how the program that your applying to will help you achieve those goals, you’ll increase your chances for acceptance.

Visit for some helpful hints on how to craft a good “story” within your application to highlight your strengths and differentiate yourself from other candidates.

If you find my response/post useful then please give it kudos!

Hi swati,
You have a good work experience, GPA and impressive extracurricular activities. But your GMAT score is quite low to complement your profile. It may not completely kill your chances of getting into a top school but it will significantly hinder them. If I were you I would retake GMAT and aim for 700+ score. That will add more value to your application. With a 700+ score and a well compiled application you can target all the top schools in the US. Don’t limit yourself with the above schools when you truly have a chance at top schools with a bit more of hard work. Aim high.

This article might help you understand more on how to compile your application. ... pplication

Good Luck!
