Hi Alex,

I would like to know your opinion on my background and chances of getting into below program

Goal: LBS, INSEAD, Cornell AMBA, Oxford.
Age: 29

1. UGPA- 60%-Bachelors in Mechanical Eng. Work Exp before Grad school-2 yrs

2. GGPA-3.71, Master in Industrial Eng, Work Exp after MS-3.5 yrs till day, 4.5 yrs on entering May 2010 + 9months internship

Diverse Experience: Automotive Technology + Medical Technology. Both Fortune 300 companies

3. Extracurricular:
Certified ASQ Green Belt- Six Sigma
Many Leadership award for volunteer work (After MS )
International Public Debate Association National Season Champion
Third Prize for Business Plan competition
Lot of progressive Awards for leadership activities at undergraduate.
Junior Artist Award in School (<10th grade)

4. Still working on giving GMAT. Average Practice GmatPrep score: 670-720

Plan to switch career tracks- Marketing, Strategy, Finance, M&A, Consulting,

My questions:
1. Advice on getting on above schools individually? (Pretty please)
2. What GMAT score should I target to be a great candidate for above schools, considering low UGPA.

Focus on your work experience. Your extracurriculars are too old or not really substantive enough (i.e. you're 29 - don't talk about high school; minimize college stuff unless it's truly exceptional).

Secondly, your career goals sound like a laundry list of random job functions - if you're that open-ended, you're not getting in anywhere.

And finally, target a 700+ on your GMAT.

To be competitive for the schools you mentioned, you need to focus on your work experience, score well on the GMAT, and have focused career goals.

Thanks for the frank opinion. I like it when people are honest. Appreciate it.

According to you, how recent extracurricular are considered not too old? I should have put dates for each one of them.
Also, what kind of extracurricular are substantive? Please explain with examples.
I thought my extracurriculars were unique and different compared to common application pool. (India)

Certified ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt (Feb 2009)
Leadership Award for organization for gaining visibility for 0-5 years employee (Feb. 2008)
IPDA (International Public Debate Association) National Season Champions (2004, Master's level). Isn't National level considered exceptional in US? (Btw: This is from US, Master's level)
Third Prize- Business Plan Competition (2004) (Master's level)

I agree with your comment on career goals. I am still refining them.
