Profile evaluation.....help needed. [#permalink] New post 30 Oct 2009, 11:10
Hi,

I am done with GMAT and now in confused status to decide the next move. I have not got a good score(only 610, Q-47, V29, AWA - 5.5), so not able to make up a mind whether to apply in any school with this score or re-take the exam.

As far as my profile is concerned, i am having almost 6 years of experience in one big-shot french IT company located in India. I am working as a team lead and have 2 years of good client site(UK, Barclaycard) experience. My grades were never less than 78%, since my school to college.

I would like to go for 1 year executive MBA from any good college in the session starting from September 2010. Could you please suggest, whether with this GMAT score, i can get into any good MBA school or should i have to think about re-taking the exam again? If i have any chance of getting admission in any good school then also please suggest the school name, where i should apply.

Your help on this will be highly appreciated.

Re-take the GMAT. "Decent" or "good" are all relative terms, but in any case, you should shoot for the mid-600s at a minimum. And like many engineering guys, your verbal score is what you really need to boost.

As for schools, I highly suggest that you conduct your own research first and come back with some schools that you feel you'd like to go to. Start with the rankings publications as a start, and then go through some of the schools' websites, career placement reports, etc. Read through discussion forums like these -- there's a wealth of info here (not just my thread, but in many other threads!) -- you should be then able to form your own opinions about which schools you'd like to apply to.
