Thanks for the detailed post, makes it easier to provide feedback. First, you have a very impressive profile and have a great chance of getting into some top schools. If you wanted to, you could even apply this year. Waiting is not a bad strategy as your candidacy will only improve with another year, but if you were anxious you would have a decent chance this year as well.

Your experience at Flipkart is impressive. I am familiar with the company as I have worked with them and there are some great stories to tell from that experience. While you don't have a top tier feeder consulting name on your resume, the responsibility and the company will certainly help separate you to some extent from the pack of technical consultants / engineers who are competing for the same spots.

Why did you switch jobs? It doesn't seem on paper as the 2nd job was a big promotion, but perhaps there is more to the story.

GMAT: As you have read everywhere, target 700+, and for someone like you I would imagine you could and should get a 730-740. Not a dealbreaker if you don't, but it would back up your otherwise strong story.

Schools: You have a number to choose from given your experience and desired roles after school. I would recommend looking into these and seeing which ones feel right. Talk with alums, read about the programs and classes, and you can always reach out to me for my off the record thoughts on the programs.
- Wharton
- HBS
- Columbia
- Kellogg
- MIT Sloan
- NYU Stern
- Yale SOM
I can give you further thoughts on the wide spectrum of schools, but you have a good chance at some at the top.

Your profile is impressive and you have a good shot at the top schools, provided everything else comes together with your overall story and brand messaging. Its worth doing some advance planning so your application is buttoned up and ready to go.

Hi there,

You have an impressive profile. Your academics, work experience and extra curricular are really good. You have made a good decision to apply in 2015 for the class of 2016. By that time you will have approx. 4 years of work experience and that is what most of the US B-Schools look for. So, based on your profile and your short term, long term goal I would suggest you to target B-Schools like Kellogg, Dartmouth Tuck, Michigan Ross, Kenan Flagler and Darden. And to get into such B-Schools you should target scoring 710+ GMAT Score.

Meanwhile, start building up your profile and start making contacts with the alumni and adcom of your targeted B-Schools.

You may also try your chances of getting admit in a top business school by trying this amazing Your chances for B-School tool http://bit.ly/1pGnz0o

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

Thank you both PersonalMBACoach and Neha for your time and evaluation. This gave me the much needed motivation to score well on my gmat.

@PersonalMBACoach:
The reasons for the job switch to Kuwait were:
1. I wanted to gain more exposure on how Supply chains of different brands work (Flipkart had 1 supply chain and Alshaya has approx. 90 brands with different supply chains).
2. The paychecks are fatter across middle east and given that I want to do an MBA from outside India, it would have been very difficult to sponsor my studies working in India. I do not have more economic support from my family.

Would like to hear your feedback on this.
