Work Experience (4 years post Undergrad by Sep 2015)
1) Internship - 3.5 years full time intern (40 hours a week) at an Audit Firm | 1 year after graduation (so I'll include it as full time work-ex)
2) 2nd Internship - 1 year in Media Company, financial research
3) Full time - Risk Consultant in a Big 4 consulting since October 2013. Handling Sox compliance, Internal controls, IT controls (I have exposure in both finance and IT audit sector)
Other extra curricular / achievements -
1) I maintain 2 web-blogs. One of it was listed in top 30 blogs by Rediff.com and also have an App dedicated. {Although my blogs aren't extremely popular outside India, I have been working extremely hard on all aspects of them since 2012. I feel like I have an all-rounded experience of the internet business right from content creation - marketing}
2) I teach dance lessons to a few people from all over the world over Skype. (I have learned Indian classical music & dance for 20 years & wanted to make it accessible to more people)
3) I have been teaching at an NGO since 2013, on-and-off.
4) I have worked with a few companies on small-scale product promotion through my web-blogs.
5) I am in the process of launching another blog that aims to talk about the smaller entrepreneurs in the locality. My aim is to get these people to share their experiences with some schools I am associated with to get students excited about the idea of business. I would like to launch it on a bigger scale post MBA across various cities.. But as of now, we are only targeting local schools.
Post MBA goal -
1) To get into Strategy / Business Development in E-commerce or Education industry.
2) I also plan to get a PhD in Management post MBA since I love research.
3) Start a non-profit organization to spread Fine arts
4) My websites are already a wealth of information. I would also like to make them a go-to place in their fields. And earning income passively would be an added gain!
B-Schools I hope to apply to - UCLA Anderson, Indian School of Business, Ross, McCombs, Mays B-school, UC Berkeley and Columbia.
My concerns
- I feel like my career goals are all over the place and don't really explain my direction. I worry that my hobbies take away the weight from my academics, which are still important to me.
- Will pursuing additional degrees (Like Masters in Economics and CFA) help or hinder the decision?
- I am so overwhelmed by the amount of information available that I am doubtful if I have a chance at a good university!
I would appreciate any inputs, suggestions you have! Many thanks!!
