Hi there,
Thanks for posting, sounds like you've got a lot to think about and a lot going on currently.
As a mom myself, I can relate!
In terms of your profile, overall it is quite strong BUT I must be honest and say upfront that it is actually a challenge in most cases to apply for a SECOND MBA.... you have to really work hard to attempt to convince the admissions committee that you truly NEED this degree, when others do not have an MBA at all and are applying with competitive backgrounds too. There are many schools who have told us they have never admitted anyone for a 2nd MBA. Now it's not unheard of, it happens, BUT I just want you to keep in mind upfront that the chances are fairly slim!
I actually view that as your biggest challenge. In terms of the strengths you have:
-Great GMAT
-strong academics
-strong work experience, quant experience, progression and recognition; I assume you could cite results achieved and impact made etc.
-CFA
-international experience
-you've at least begun the process of working through building your case for the 'why'
-schools are always looking for qualified female applicants
Unknowns:
-your essays/recs/interview..... these 'personal' components of the application play a huge role when your other pieces are already strong
-extracurricular or community involvement
Without looking at the 2nd MBA factor, I'd say you have a strong profile and the last important piece would be really nailing those essays (showing who you are, what you'll bring, and why you need the MBA for your career). I would encourage applying to top global programs, according to your own interests and preferences about what type of school you are looking for. (For more about choosing schools, see this free download:
https://info.mbamission.com/Selecting-Yo ... ram-E-Book). Adding in the fact that it is a 2nd MBA does make it tougher in my opinion, and it will be even MORE critical to really explain why you feel it's different now and what this degree will do vs the other one and WHY that particular school is so vital to you and your career plans. I'd be sure to show you've done some research into your post-MBA roles too so it doesn't sound too 'pie-in-the-sky' like a dream goal; VC for example is notoriously tough to break into.
Lots to think about an research, good luck on it all!
