Hi,
I'm targeting to get into an good and reputed MBA college next academic year ie 2015 particularly in Asia-pacific and some European colleges.
Recently I took GMAT and score 680.(Q49,V33,AWA6,IR3)
Educational Background : I did my B.Tech in IT from a 2nd tier college in India. My CGPA was 6/10. Not a strong in academics. But I have been active in sports and Cultural events and participated in various inter-college tournaments ( both alone and in team) and claimed 1st prize.
Professional Experience : An astute thinker and detail oriented, I have over 4 yrs experience working as Business Analyst in Top IT company in India and gained good knowledge of US and European Insurance markets. Being a Business Analyst and a domain expert in Insurance, I have helped my Clients establish IT competency to serve their organizational goals by analyzing their business needs and gaps. I have worked very hard to establish undeniable reputation with my clients who have always appreciated my inputs and suggestions. I have undertaken projects both in IT management and IT consulting across the Insurance value chain from Claims to underwriting and Policy management and have always delivered a winning pitch for my clients where they have directly benefited from the IT solution provided.
In one instance , working on a tight deadline for a major Casualty insurer in US, I(along with my team) delivered a state of the art underwriting tool that helped my client capture a 28% increase in market share. My contribution to the team were that of the functional domain expert and I interviewed various underwriters and actuaries(the actual end-users) to identify the blockages and proposed inputs to overcome it. I also worked closely with the IT team to converge effectively and efficiently towards the end-solution.
These 4yrs of my work experience have been a life changer for me. It made me more self-aware both personally and professionally and gave me a sense of outlook to see any problem as an opportunity. I constantly evaluated myself and analysed my weakness and strengths. I learned how to leverage my strengths and devote more time to overcome my weakness. It was this self-solicited advice that kept me pushing through. even while Working on tight project schedules and uncompromising client calls never stopped my quest for knowledge and in 2013 I became an Associate in General Insurance(awarded by AICPCU, a reputed American institute offering knowledge programs in Insurance). Being a part of Insurance Centre of Excellence team at my organization , I have also contributed towards establishing insurance industry best practices, preparing PoVs, presentations for prospective client visits, market research. In 2012 I won the 1st prize for a white paper that I wrote on “Customer Retention In Insurance Industry using predictive analytics’ which was later included in my organizations offerings to insurance clients. These contributions were not billable but that never stopped me from going an extra mile for perfection.
Hobbies/Achievement :
1. Guitar player. I was also instructor for 2yrs at a reputed 50yr old music institute in India.
2. Worked for an NGO as a Fund-raiser. Organized events and competitions to raise awareness and funds.
3. Avid reader of books and articles on Human philosophy. The Black swan is one of the best books that I read till date and one which I personally try to incorporate in my daily life decisions.
Please help me know if my profile is strong enough to break into MBA colleges.
I plan to apply for NUS, Melbourne Business. I’m also open to suggestions for a good college based on my profile and score.
