I am planning on applying to UCLA and Berkeley full-time MBA programs in the first round this fall. Please review my profile:
GMAT: 680 (Q-48 (83%), V-35(73%))
Undergrad: 3.7 GPA from good private school
Work experience: 3 years. 6 months in investment banking at bulge bracket. Was laid off during recession and then spent ~1 year at a retailer, 1.5 years in investment banking at middle market bank.
Extracurricular: During undergrad I took two years off of school and did service in a different state. Held many leadership positions during that time period. As an undergrad I served as president of finance club. Continue to work as alumni advisor.
Planning on applying to UCLA and Berkeley full-time MBA in the fall. Please let me know what my chances might be.
Thanks for your help.
Your profile looks solid in portions. Cover up the recession thing well in your essays and use the leadership positions as well as the undergrad positions to clearly differentiate yourself.
GMAT score is a bit average but with 6-7 yrs of experience your essays will play a strong role so make sure you pick important achievements from your career and use them well.
