I am interested in applying for MBA or MFE/MFin courses. Since I have relatively low work exp and average acads, I am writing a slightly detailed description of my profile
Work Ex: For the past 17 months, I have been working with a company which is the worlds largest manufacturer of Agriculture Equipments. During the first 5 months, we were made to go through an intensive training program. I was the topper amoongst the incoming batch of students(students from top Indian Technical Institutes). Following this I joined a team that was responsible for developing software product for Fleet Management Systems for large vehicle contractors and Lenders . Within 12 months I was promoted from Engineering Trainee to Technology Analyst.During internal evaluations, I have recieved commendations several times from my superiors for my work.
Extra Curriculars: I feel I have a lot of extra curricular activites in terms of quantity, but in terms of quality I am not sure how much they would weigh in. Since graduation: I co-founded a not for profit organization that trains destitute women in making paper and cloth bags and sells them at various retail outlet, helping women gain financial independence. Within 3 months of operations we had 25 women working with us and we helped them generate an income more than Rs 1500 per month (more than 2 times the poverty line benchmark).
During Graduation: 1) Co founder - Department of Sponsorship and Marketing for my college: This department was responsible for raising funds for all the college festivals organized by students of my college. In an academic year we managed to get sponsorships worth more than Rs 3 Million.
2) Co founder of two technical clubs: These clubs helped in fostering their respective technical specializations in students. One of the clubs got full sponsorship from a Major Chip manufacturing company. Members of these clubs published several IEEE papers and many went forth to pursue masters from Ivy league tech schools 3) Chief Event Manager of a National Cyber gaming festival 4) Volunteer for Social Initiative by the Times of India group. 5) I have a few more leadership ones but I feel they would only add quantity
Research Papers: I have published 2 research papers in International IEEE Conferences. One of them is in the related to pattern recognitions (I am not sure but would this add any value to my MF/MFE Applcation?)
Long Term Goals: I would like to be an Investment Banker or an Entrepreneur in the Finance domain. I am also appearing for CFA Level 1 examination this december in order to pursue my future aspirations.
I am interested in pursuing MBA and MiF/MFE programs from top 30 B schools in USA. I was hoping someone could help me shortlist the schools I have a realistic chance of getting into, for both MBA and MF/MFE programs. After my priliminary research I was thinking of applying to these schools: Tepper - MFE Anderson - MBA Nanyang - MFE Johnson - MBA Haas - MFE NYU Courant - MFE Booth - MBA
It would be really nice of you if you could help me classify these schools based on my profile Also, kindly suggest me other B schools with MFE/MFin and MBA I can apply for.
Really appreciate your help. Thank you Kushal Agarwal
